Our History

In 2002,

inspired and determined to make a difference in biology research.

Back then laboratories made most reagents in house,

with postdocs spending years just to clone a single gene（宜用升调）

before they could even start on their research.

This was about to change.

With $5,000, a start-up company

called xxx, was founded in Piscataway, New Jersey.

As one of the earliest companies to commercialize gene synthesis, （宜用升调）

the budding business earned recognition by expediting research,

saving months of project time for numerous scientists.

By 2004,

the R&D and Production center was established in Nanjing, China

and the company expanded to offer

peptide, protein expression and customized antibody services （宜用升调）

to researchers everywhere.

In response to increasing demand worldwide,

new branches were established in Leiden, Netherlands in 2008

Tokyo, Japan in 2011,

Dublin, Ireland in 2017

and Singapore in 2019.

The company’s fast growth caught attention of investors

and in 2009 KPCB and BALLOCH made a $15 million investment into GenScript,

shifting its growth into high gear.

As a result, in 2015,

xxx went to public in Hong Kong as the first biotech company,

The success in the capital market fueled further expansion into prominent areas of biology research.

In 2013

Bestzyme Inc., a subsidiary focusing on synthetic biology products, was founded.

The company combines strength in R&D

and full-fledged production facility,

featuring a 720,000 liters Fermentation Tank.

In 2017,

a collaboration between GenScript and Janssen Pharmaceutical

garnered international attention with a record-breaking $350M initial payment.

It focused on a novel cell therapy treatment to cure multiple myeloma

that showed results which stunned audiences in the 2017 ASCO meeting

The program has already received R&D clearance

from FDA, CFDA and PRIME from EMA.  

In the same year xxx closed acquisition of CustomArray,

a Seattle based company with unique silicon chip nucleotide synthesis technology. （宜用升调）

paving the way for expansion into targeted sequencing, （宜用升调）

DNA libraries and molecular diagnostics.

In 2018, xxx announced its plan （宜用升调）

in biologics development and manufacturing business,

boasting a one-stop solution from target to IND filing

that allows pre-clinical development to be finished within 14-15 months.

In same year,

xxx officially announced AmMagTM SA,

the world’s first automated magnetic beads based protein purification system, （宜用升调）

developed in collaboration with Amgen.

This platform greatly reduces industrial scale recombinant antibody purification time （宜用升调）
